The secretary-general of the Shaab Ibb Sports Club announced his resignation from his post in protest against the team's relegation to the second-tier league last month.
The team nickname "Stubborn" fell to the lowest-ranked league after finishing last in Group B with eight points in the top flight.
This is the third time in the history of the club, which was founded in 1963 and achieved five leagues and three titles in the President's Cup as well as other tournaments.
In his resignation letter to the Chairman of the Club, Ahmed Dahman wrote: "I resign my position and apologize to the Club's fans for landing and reaching this situation."

This was the first official to resign at the club, a small step demanded by fans after the failure, but the administration did not respond, nor did it resign and hand over responsibility to an interim committee until elections were held.
Dahman demanded the appointment of a replacement, stressing that his resignation was final and not reversed.
The Shaab Ibb are one of the strongest and best clubs in Yemen and the source of players for the various national teams.
