Establishment and Headquarters

At the beginning of the 1930s, there was a group of young people who loved and practised football among three popular teams: the high school team (the red team) and the middle school team (the yellow team) as well as the health team.

Besides, a group of young hobbyists from the old city of Sana 'a were playing football, partnering with the three teams and competing to win games.

At the time, there were no known bands and these folk bands were choosing colour names, but the old Sana 'a youth chose their team as "the people", referring to the inhabitants of the city in 1934.

The team continued with this name until 1954 when it was changed to the name of Ahli, in tradition of the famous Egyptian National Club, according to Saleh Al-Jamali, a player and one of the founders of the club.

That year the team achieved the first trophy named after the King.

at that time; There were no stadiums in northern Yemen and no interest in sport in general because of the nature of the late monarchy that was overthrown in the 26 September 1962 revolution.

The stadiums available at the time are dirt stadiums and matches were initially held on Al-Qa 'ah Street (now in front of the headquarters of the Capital Secretariat) and also on the occasional square.

For Al-Ahli's team, they were allowed to play in a place called Bab Al-Saleb (Souq Al-Sameel) in the old city of Sana 'a.

Thanks to the efforts of the then President of the Club Abduljabbar Ghanaima, the club obtained land under the direction of the then President of the Republic Abdullah Al-Salal.

The land is located in the area of Bab Yemen, one of the most famous doors of the Old City, and the club's headquarters is approximately 500 metres near it.
